This is the best Note-taking System for your Scattered Brain
"Four Mind System" can help you process information and concepts in a better progressive and engaging way.
I recently joined my new College near my Hometown . The College is Basically some distance away from my House ,so I prefer to stay in Hostel with my brother. I’m in my first year of college and I'm in that phase where I need to take lots of notes for my new lectures and the professors here teach really fast concepts . I have now shifted completely to a new environment where lots of new concepts keep-on bombarding my head and I want to soak in as much concepts and information as possible. Therefore , I tried the bullet journal method to take notes where I jot down every informative and important concept to a paper and label them as icons to represent a piece of information. It's a very creative way to mark your thoughts and notes in a paper , but who has lots of time when there are heaps of information/concepts to write. People are fast. Slides move down very quickly .During every lecture I realize that :
I was gaining a lot of new information and concepts which I don't want to slip off from my mind.
While gaining new concepts, there were lots of new queries and questions that I wanted to ask from someone.
I was coming up with ideas and insights.
I was having strong feelings about certain issues
So, I came up with a new and better idea/system , which I call it as : “Four Mind System”.
How it works : Create a four partition inside your brain (hypothetically) , think like you divide a piece of paper into four parts . Identify all parts as a new Matrix and divide your notebook into four parts .
The four parts are : The minutes mind , The question mind , The idea mind and The reaction mind.
The minutes mind : In this portion of your brain , write down important discussion points, new concepts, factual information, quotes, and key takeaways.
The question mind : This is for the things you either don’t understand or want to learn more about. If there’s a Q&A portion of the lectures, you can refer to this mind/matrix. If not, you can dive deeper into the questions on your own time.
The idea mind : This is for those light bulb moments: Maybe you have an idea for a new project or a thought about how a certain process can be streamlined. It’s important that you don’t let these ideas escape you, no matter how small or raw they might be.
The reaction mind : This is for emotions and reactions. We are human beings, not robots that automatically absorb any information presented to us. Feeling is part of the processing. Our reactions and triggers help us to make sense of information, form opinions and convictions, and add value to the discussion.
The notes we take aren’t just bits of new information. They’re breeding grounds for curiosity, creativity, and natural human responses. This system has helped me to process all the information I’m receiving in my college/lectures in a more effective and engaging way.
You can use this system not just with lectures, but in any area of work or life. Try it for yourself. It’s like a filing cabinet for your brain - where it stores lots of information.
