Significant Lies that are worth Breaking
Lies are the limitations of our growth mindset and they hinder us from achieving something more.
1. Lie: Wait for the perfect moment
This rule will paralyze you to achieve something more than you’ve ever wanted.
Reality: There’s no such thing as a perfect moment.
Every day is your perfect day. Don’t waste your time thinking I will do something after when the right time comes.
Open the door and just jump off.
2. Lie: You’ve to work hard to succeed
Hard work is important - but for the short term.
Instead, try to work smartly.
You’ll burn out if you rigorously work harder every day and get less work done.
Try to work like Lion -
Rest
Sprint when Inspired
then repeat the process
3/ Lie: Let things play out
Life isn’t a movie/play.
You need to get things sorted in your life and no one else will come to help you.
Life is a single-player game. It is your responsibility.
Things don’t work out by themselves, we need to sort things by ourselves.
4/ Lie: Don’t ask too many questions
Asking questions increases our curiosity to dig deeper into the concepts.
It makes us more futile, knowledgeable, and wide opens huge opportunities to explore more.
Never stop asking more questions.
5/ Lie: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
Just because it isn’t broken, doesn’t mean it can’t be improved further.
Life is meant to grow. Continuous improvement is the way.
Focus on small, incremental improvements—day in, day out.
6/ Lie: Get a stable job and life will be settled
This might be good in the industrial ages, but this is the era for the Digital ages.
Reality: Any job will not make you good. Working and taking paychecks from others is limited in the digital age.
Instead, look at your competency and work in your zone of genius.
7/ Lie: Stay in your lane
It’s important to be safe- a life full of no risks.
But it’s worse to not take risks at all in your life.
Take bold moves. Double down your strengths. Expand your domain.
A growth mindset rules the world.
8/ Lie: Think through every big decision
We’ve been told to think thrice before taking any big decisions.
As a result, many of us decline on those paths.
With big decisions, you're actually better off making them fast—let your gut and instincts guide you.
9/ Lie: Don’t talk to Strangers
As children, we’ve been told not to meet strangers and not to listen to their advice.
Reality: They are no strangers, they are just friends we haven’t met yet.
When we open to them, we grow, stimulate and learn together.
10/ Lie: Get a 4-yr degree
As children we’ve been told to get a 4-yr degree and get a 9-5 job, then our life will be settled.
WRONG!
That is a lie—and we loaded a generation with student debt because of it.
4-year degrees make sense for many, but not for all.
Follow YOUR path.
11/ Lie: Have a plan & stick to it
It’s important to have a plan, but it’s more important to go for what your gut says.
As Morgan Housel said - “Planning is important, but the most important part of every plan is to plan on the plan not going according to plan.”
Plans have to be authentic and punch-proof!
