Hi everyone ! I hope that you’ll find this newsletter in good condition. In today’s newsletter we'll dive deeper into the topic of how to opt for better independent thinking by making decentralized friend groups .
The main difference between centralized and decentralized friend groups is that - centralized friend groups make you copy the crowd , thereby limiting your independent thoughts and you can no longer think for yourself. Decentralized friend groups , on the other hand , makes you think for yourself and helps you in shaping down the independent thoughts inside you.
Choosing a good type of friend , according to your goals and requirements , is thus very important for us - Decentralized or Centralized .
George Mack coined the topic and framework for Centralized and Decentralized friend groups.
Centralized friend groups : You have a large cluster of friends . They have a lot in common and share the same history , beliefs and behaviors .They usually “fits” inside one box like - School friends , Work friends .
Decentralized friend groups: You have a small cluster of different friends who aren’t connected to one another. They share different beliefs and behaviors . The only thing they have in common is that they know you. Ambitious friends , Serious friends , relaxed friends , fitness friends , hometown friends and things like that.
According to George Mack , opting for decentralized friend groups is the key for Independent thoughts.
He said -
“If you want to copy the crowd , opt for the Centralized friend groups .If you want to think for yourself , opt for the Decentralized friend groups.”
Humans are unsymmetrical creatures. We copy those around us .If you have clusters of centralized friend groups , you would copy the crowds and won't be able to think for yourself. In other words , you are swimming only on a one-way-tide.
However , if you have decentralized friend groups , you don’t copy others and you have to think for yourself. In that way , it shapes you to be different and makes you independent in your way of thinking.
Decentralized friends reduce binary thinking too. They help you in different situations like :
If you want to be relaxed - call your relaxed friends
If you want to be serious at something - call your serious friends
If your want to start your business - call your ambitious friends
If you want to get in shape - call your fitness friends
Centralized friend groups are like a disease for your brain . Decentralized friend groups are like the medicine for your brain .
They will help you in every situation and frameworks of your life.
